Chip Gaines is logging some serious miles in preparation for his first-ever marathon race taking place in Waco this May — and he’s looking healthier than ever.
The Fixer Upper star’s progress was recently shared by Magnolia on Instagram and commenters were quick to compliment him on his physique. He’s already lost 10 pounds, according to Runner’s World, and feels stronger than ever, too.
“I’m down around 10 pounds,” he told the publication. “And the fact that I’m not sucking wind at mile one is probably a pretty good sign, too.” In fact, the HGTV star has already worked his way up to running 15 miles at a time, and he’s pretty proud of what he’s accomplished so far.
“Let me be the first to tell you that there’s nothing quite like that feeling of surprising yourself with your progress,” he said.
While his new running chops are pretty impressive, we’re guessing Mr. #DemoDay was pretty strong even before training ever began. Still, Chip has admitted in the past that he hasn’t always loved seeing himself on television. “Watching myself on TV is really sad [be]cause I look chubby and maybe that’s because I am chubby,” he wrote on Twitter. “But I’m just happier not knowing it, you know.”
Dad bod or not, Chip has so much to be proud of — and with a month to go until race day, we’re sure there are even more fitness achievements to come.
